Lent is a Pilgrimage

Lent is a pilgrimage to Jesus,

Walking His Gospel way;

A journey of repentance beside Him,

Shouldering our cross, day by day.

 

Lent is action for Jesus,

While pondering His suffering and pain;

Crying to God, “We are sorry,

Protect us from sinning again.”

 

Lent is turning our eyes to Mount Calvary,

Where three crosses ascend towards the sky;

To when the earth quaked as the Man in the middle

Breathed, “It is finished,” and sagged down to die.

 

Lent is a turning to Mary,

With a prayer that she give us the strength;

To keep us plodding on to the glory,

Of our own personal Easter at length.
