Love
PETALS from the Scrapbook of a Novice
By Ruth Vogel, Sacred Heart Fraternity, Arlington, Virginia
From the power of a word can eternity spring?
Can a helpless babe be Creator and King?
The word LOVE is so small, like a pea in a pod.
But, how can it be small? It's an offspring of God!
This one humble word LOVE; can a thing so small
Pierce the concrete and stone of a soul's prison wall?
Look! LOVE'S candle flame in the black of the night;
See it shatter the dark with its bright, golden light.
See that speck of dust, drab, ugly and cold.
Ah! But touch it with Love's sunlight — transmute it to gold.
Man: a speck of dust on the highway of time.
Man: a temple of God's LOVE, a tabernacle sublime!
