Tête-à-Tête

He sits and sips a cup of tea,

My Lord with me;

And so absorbed in Him am I

The time just flies by.

I think of how it said,

“A thousand years — a day are one,”

And know how swift night falls

Though day seems scarce begun.

But just this moment He is here

I care not a whit,

For worthless is all else except

The joy of it.

When Jesus shares my cup of tea

I can recall

The words St. Francis prayed,

“My God, my All.”
